“We do not want his mind to be like a badly blown glass, that distorts what we see through it, but like a glass of sweet and strange color that gives new tones to what we see through it; and a glass of rare strength and clearness too, to let us see more than we could see ourselves.” —John Ruskin
This show of emerging and established artists presents a challenge for the viewer. 25 artists living and working in New York offered us a glimpse into their studios. Distilled through their process and life’s experience they’ve reached a certain sweet and strange color of clarity. Presented here is each artist’s refracted vision; seen together in this way we hope it will allow us all to see more than we could see ourselves.
